COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley has categorically denied the club would put star forward Travis Cloke up for trade, describing the idea as "laughable". 

The suggestion was raised by Jason Dunstall on Fox Footy on Monday night, with the Hawthorn legend suggesting the Magpies could put themselves in a strong draft position if they decided to move Cloke on before his contract expires.

But Buckley was vehement in his rejection of Dunstall's proposal.

"It's laughable. Trav's a leader of the football club. He's one of the best power forwards in the competition and he's part of our plans into the future," Buckley said on Tuesday.

Buckley said trading players while they have value was an interesting concept but a decision that needed to be made based on the direction of the football club.

“If you want to undo everything that you’re trying to build then (trading players) is probably a good way to go about it," Buckley said.

"There needs to be some ruthless decisions in list management, there's no doubt about it.

"But when you’ve got players that have turned themselves inside out for the football club and you’ve had them for long periods of time, you’d want to know that you’re in a regeneration period if you’re going to make those calls."

Buckley also confirmed the club's interest in Greater Western Sydney midfielder Adam Treloar, but stopped short of discussing the situation in any great length.

"Adam Treloar is a player that has found himself on the back page more often than not over the last couple of weeks," he said.

"He's a GWS player and we'll be looking at improving our list anyway we can and we'll look at a whole range of players who we think are going to do that, and Adam Treloar would be one of those."

Buckley said Cloke, who was a late withdrawal ahead of the game against Collingwood with calf tightness, was unlikely to lineup for the Magpies against the Bombers on Sunday.

Star Midfielder Dane Swan (knee) has been ruled out and Ben Sinclair (broken hand) will be another forced change the Magpies would need to make this weekend.

Buckley also confirmed American ruckman Mason Cox would not make his debut against the Bombers.
