Simon was 36 when he passed away.

He was born with special needs due to a mental disability. This did not prevent him from holding down a job for 18 years at a local nursing home - Assisting with the garden and maintenance. There he got on very well with all the staff.

He became ill early 2007 with a brain tumour. He did have surgery February 2007 then again March 2008. It then progressed and became inoperable.

He loved his football and became a Swans supporter as a teenager. His room is decorated with Sydney memorabilia – large team photographs, scarf, and every hat that he has been issued with or bought, and a clock and his watch.

His pride and joy was the football Paul Roos gave him on his trip to the MCG in 2007. This photo was taken at The Theatre Royal Hotel at a local club meeting in Hobart before he became ill.
