WEST Coast sharpshooter Mark LeCras has extended his contract with the Eagles, taking the All Australian out of range for looming franchise Greater Western Sydney.

LeCras, who was already contracted for the 2011 season, had been linked with the AFL's 18th franchise, which will boast similar recruiting powers to Gold Coast when it prepares to enter the competition for the 2012 season.

But the Eagles' reigning club champion has ended speculation about his future, signing a contract that will reportedly tie him to West Coast until the end of the 2013 season.

"Its great to sign a new contract so early into the pre-season," LeCras told westcoasteagles.com.au.

"We are training strongly already and all of us are keen to make sure we improve as quickly as we can.

"We have some terrific young players and I am looking forward to being part of a team that starts to take our club up the premiership table.

"We have a very exciting young list which will grow even further with three new young guys coming to the club through the draft later this week."

LeCras booted 63 goals from 21 games in 2010 - including a stunning 12 against Essendon in round 16 - winning the Eagles' club champion award and his first All Australian jumper.

The 24-year-old has played 78 games since his debut in 2005.
