The Crows wore black arm bands on Saturday in honour of former club official Ron Kinsman.

Kinsman, 79, passed away on Wednesday. He was a popular member of the Crows’ support staff from 1996-2009, mainly in the role as drinks steward. Ron was a life member of both the SANFL and Woodville Football Club, having served in various off-field roles at club level and with State junior teams.

Crows CEO Steven Trigg said: “Ron Kinsman would be known to many people in the football industry. Over the years he’s been involved at SANFL Club level, also with the State under-age teams, and from 1996, with our Club on the support staff.

“Those who did know him will surely agree that he was one of the most loyal and hard-working people in the business. He always had a very ‘proper’ way about him and that, coupled with his wonderful commitment and sense of humour, made him one of the real characters in our Club’s history.

“For example, most of his time with us was as the ‘drinks steward’, but with that proper way, and that sense of humour - he instead labelled himself the ‘beverage technician’ - and the best in the competition as well!

“Our deepest sympathies go out to Gwen and the family at what is obviously a difficult time, as we say farewell to one of our people.

“As an appropriate mark of respect, our players will wear black arm bands versus the Eagles this weekend.”
