EMERGING Hawthorn youngsters Harry Morrison and Mitch Lewis have signed contract extensions that will keep them at the club until at least the end of 2020.

Morrison made a solid debut in round 23 last season and has played every game this season since round two, impressing the Hawks with his run and class on the wing.

Before the start of the season, coach Alastair Clarkson nominated the 19-year-old as a potential A-grade talent and a likely 200-game player for the club. He was stiff not to receive a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination after an excellent 25-possession outing against St Kilda in round six. He is averaging 15 touches a game at AFL level.

Fellow 2016 draftee Lewis has played two games this year for Hawthorn as a key forward after some great form for Box Hill and showed enough potential to suggest that as he continues to fill out, he has the makings of a long-term AFL player.

Hawthorn’s general manager of football Graham Wright said it was pleasing for the club to have secured fresh commitments from the pair.

"Both have shown really promising form at AFL level this year and we look forward to watching their continued growth and development in the years to come," he said.
