Gamble has played just 24 career matches in four seasons at the Cats, and while looking promising in his time, mostly as a forward, he has been unable to establish himself in the senior line-up during Geelong’s recent dominant era.
His absence from the senior side, combined with a number of strong performances at VFL level, has not gone unnoticed by the Cats’ rivals.
“There’s certainly been some interest from other clubs,” Gamble’s manager, Nigel Carmody of Elite Sports Properties, told afl.com.au. “When he’s gone up [to AFL level] in the past he’s done reasonably well.
“He is out of contract at the end of the year, and there’s no hard and fast plan in place at the moment. He’s part of the Cats’ finals stuff with their AFL side, and he’s continuing to train.
“We haven’t really sat down and had any strong dialogue with the club yet as to where they see him.
“We need to do that first before we have a good idea of what his next move might be.”
The lively forward played just two matches this season - once in round three against Fremantle, and the other time against St Kilda in round 13. On that night, he played as a small defender.
Gamble has played a number of roles for Geelong’s VFL side, and proved a prolific contributor in the midfield.
If Geelong does not offer the 22-year-old a new contract at the end of the year, he will likely be the second change to Mark Thompson’s list.
Young midfielder/forward Nathan Djerrkura has already indicated he is on the lookout for another opportunity after struggling to break into Geelong’s star-studded side.
