MELBOURNE believes Colin Sylvia is still a good chance of taking on Collingwood on the Queen's Birthday this Monday, after he responded positively to treatment on the blood clot in his right foot.

His recovery is going so well Melbourne football manager Chris Connolly told melbournefc.com.au that he has been cleared to train with the team on Friday.

Sylvia was hospitalised after he experienced severe pain in his right big toe during and following Melbourne’s game against Carlton on Saturday.

Following the game, doctors were concerned about the blood supply to his right toe and transferred him to hospital, where a test revealed a clot in the main artery on the top of his right foot.

“We have seen some improvement in Colin’s condition," Connolly said.

“The match committee will now assess his training, and consider him for selection against Collingwood on Monday.”

Sylvia starred for Melbourne in last year’s Queen’s Birthday match, gathering 32 possessions and kicking three goals.
