Two stars from the victory over West Coast are this week’s guests on a special Septopia week three edition of Magpie Radio’s The Squawk.

Heath Shaw and Chris Bryan reveal what it was like beating the Eagles in extra time at Subiaco to advance to a preliminary final.

“It was the best finals win we’ve had. Extra time makes it a little bit more interesting. A lot of people have said to me over the week and over the weekend that it was the best game they’d ever seen and they were on the edge of their seats,” Shaw says.

“And a few people I know had a bit of trouble watching it, crying. Actually my girlfriend’s nan was watching the game, and after full time she thought it was a draw, so she turned the TV off and went to bed, and didn’t know what the result was, so I had to tell her the next day that we actually won the game.”

Shaw also describes the OzJet charter flight organised by the club to get the players back from Perth.

“It was a different experience, the leg room was essential. We were able to come back in our own time, take it easy recovery wise, a few sleeping tablets on the way home, got back in our own time, it was very comfortable, and hopefully that will help us out later in the week.”

Bryan, meanwhile, was a late inclusion for the injured Josh Fraser, and certainly made the most of his opportunity, booting the first goal of extra time to give the Magpies crucial momentum.

“It was interesting, I flew over just as an emergency, and had a run around on Thursday over there. On Friday I spoke to Mick (Malthouse) after the meeting, Frase didn’t pull up, so i got a gig, which was good,” Bryan explains.

“I was pretty lucky to work tandem with Stretcher (Guy Richards), we worked Cox over pretty hard, and in the end we still had the run in the legs and I could run in and kick a goal, so it was very exciting.”

Find out what else Heath and Chris have to say about taking on the Cats, what’s going on in their lives outside footy, and what their opinions are on some criticial current affairs,  only on The Squawk.
