Over 5,000 Carlton supporters enjoyed the Family Day activities at MC Labour Park on last Sunday. The excitement generated around the Club in recent weeks was given a further boost with a victory over the Bombers in round one of the NAB Cup the night before and all Carlton supporters were in a good mood to enjoy a day with the players at the Family Day.
The players were involved in many of the activities on the day including the Camp Australia games for the children and the interactive activities on the ground. Some of the more popular activities included the Anaconda climbing wall and the giant slide. However while the rides and activities were popular it was the players who the supporters were keen to meet and they were not disappointed with all the players taking the time to sign autographs and have their photos taken for over 4 hours during the day.And it wasn’t just the players and coaching staff who were popular with the supporters, new President, Richard Pratt was also in demand for an autograph during the day.
The eleven new players to Carlton for the 2007 season were all presented with their Carlton guernsey by Richard Pratt before the entire playing list was presented on stage one by one. Each player signed a Carlton football for a lucky member who was presented with their signed football on stage. Another important presentation was a framed Carlton guernsey with “President” printed across the back. This was presented to Richard Pratt from the Carlton Football Club to welcome him as the President of the Club in 2007.
After four hours of activities the players made their way to the change rooms, still signing and having their photos taken as they moved across the ground, leaving Carlton supporters optimistic about the season ahead. Adding to the success of the day was the sale of 800 Carlton memberships boosting the 2007 total to around 22,000 a great start to our target of 32,000 in 2007.
