NO TRADES eventuated on the first day of trade week but there was still plenty of action with the Western Bulldogs, Sydney Swans, Brisbane Lions and Richmond all busy.

The Age reports Bulldog defender Andrejs Everitt is likely to head to the Swans in exchange for small forward Patrick Veszpremi and a late draft pick. Both players remain contracted but have struggled for opportunities in recent seasons.

The Whitten Oval also looms as the most likely destination for speedy Lions midfielder Justin Sherman. The Lions are reportedly seeking the Bulldogs' compensation pick received for the loss of Jarrod Harbrow to Gold Coast in return.

Dogs ruckman Will Minson is also a chance to join Harbrow at the Suns, with The Age suggesting a possible scenario where Minson traded to Gold Coast with the compensation pick, in return for pick 44 and one of the Suns' pre-listed players.

Disaffected Geelong youngster Nathan Djerrkura has also expressed interest in joining the Bulldogs, The Age reports, possibly in exchange for tall utility Stephen Tiller.

The Lions have requested two first-round picks from Gold Coast for Jared Brennan. The Age says talks on Tuesday night involved a mooted exchange of Brennan and the Lions' pick 10 for pick five and another pick around No.20, possibly obtained from Fremantle in a complicated deal.

Meanwhile, James Hird looks set to focus on youth in his first season as Essendon coach after Brent Stanton, Leroy Jetta, David Myers and Alwyn Davey re-signed with the club.

The Bombers' earlier interest in Brennan has cooled and they will retain their No.8 pick at all costs. However, Bachar Houli remains out of contract and Richmond has reportedly made a strong play, offering the prolific midfielder a two-year deal to continue his stalled career at Tigerland.

Richmond midfielder Richard Tambling appears set for a new home in 2011, most likely at the Crows. Tigers football operations manager Craig Cameron told the Herald Sun the two clubs were close to an agreement, while The Age says Richmond is keen on the Adelaide's compensation pick received for Nathan Bock's move to Gold Coast.

The Herald Sun added that Tiger defender Will Thursfield was keen on a move to Fremantle and Richmond was attempting to convince Shaun Grigg to move from Carlton.

However, Adelaide's interest in completing a deal for Tambling was held up by a stalemate in talks with Carlton over ruckman Sam Jacobs.

The Herald Sun reports the Blues want the Crows' compensation pick, which falls at the end of the first round, but the Crows prefer a swap of their No.14 pick for Carlton's No.18. A straight exchange of Jacobs for Adelaide's second-round pick was rejected.

Hawthorn has joined Melbourne and Gold Coast in the race for North Melbourne ruck/forward David Hale, according to The Age and the Herald Sun, while The Age reports the Hawks have also expressed interest in Bulldog forward Josh Hill after inconsistent years from Carl Peterson and Rhan Hooper.

Chris Tarrant looks set to follow in Trent Croad's footsteps by leaving Fremantle and returning to his original club, Collingwood, but little progress was made on Tuesday.

The Age says the Magpies rejected Freo's requests for one of Chris Dawes, Sharrod Wellingham or Tyson Goldsack and offered up John Anthony - who is keen on a move - or Leon Davis. The Herald Sun confirmed those reports and added confirmation of the Pies' interest in Tarrant from coach Mick Malthouse.

Port Adelaide forward Daniel Motlop is in demand, according to The Advertiser, but his desired move to WA may not come about after neither of the Perth clubs were among several suitors.

Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph says young Swans ruckman Daniel Currie was the subject of interest from several clubs looking to bolster their ruck division, while Paul Bevan remained keen to explore his options after being dropped for the Swans' second final.
