It’s time again to get the inside word on the Williamstown Football Club after their win against Coburg on the weekend. This week we catch up with Western Bulldogs Development Manager Chris Maple who has taken time out to give his impressions on the Round 6 clash.
Chris thanks for joining us, what are your thoughts on Williamstown’s performance?
Thanks David, it was a very slow start for Williamstown again with Coburg kicking 6 goals to 1 in the first quarter, meaning we had to play a bit of catch up footy. We were a lot more accountable in the second quarter and we were able to seal the game with 11 goals in the third term.
Good to hear, were there any standout performers on the weekend?
Brodie Moles was a standout, he broke the game open with a lot of speed and run and carry. He managed to kick 3 goals in the second half.
Matt Little hurt the opposition on the scoreboard with 5 goals, while Bulldogs rookie Matthew Panos kicked 2 goals in the third quarter.
Good to see Christian Howard in the team this week, how did you see his performance?
Christian has been out for a long time and is still finding his way back into footy. It took him a little while to find the tempo of the game but once he picked it up he was a good contributor.
So we have the bye this week due to the state game, has that come at a good time for the boys?
Yes we have the state game this week, it will be interesting to see him Patrick Rose is selected as rookies are eligible.
The list is pretty fit at the moment so the break will give our younger players a chance to re-assess their goals, recover this week and look forward to Box Hill.
Thanks once again for your time Chris and keep up the good work with our future stars.
