In part two of our exclusive interview with 'Rocket' Rodney Eade, we take a look at the lighter side of the Western Bulldogs coach, and perhaps learn something new about the man in charge at Whitten Oval.

Favourite food:

Chinese

Favourite TV show:

Underbelly was good the other night when I watched it in Darwin, but there's nothing that really grabs me consistently. I do like good comedy.

Favourite movie:

Any film with Jack Nicholson in it, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was good. I didn't mind Braveheart with Mel Gibson either, and I don't mind a good thriller.

Favourite drink:

I don't drink a lot, so I'll say water. If I was going for an alcohol drink, I'd say a light beer.

Favourite commentator:

That's a tough one. Calling the game, I'd probably say Dennis Cometti, although I also like Robert Walls and his special comments. He describes it in the least amount of words, he doesn't waffle on, and he knows his stuff. He's pretty succinct.

Favourite sport other than Australian Football:

I've always been mad on cricket; I used to play cricket as a junior, but I like golf as well.

Favourite holiday spot:

Palm Cove.

Favourite team to beat:

(laughs) I haven't got one of those. I think when you first start out, it's always your old team, but really once I started coaching at Sydney, it's not quite the same. Sometimes, teams develop rivalries. There was a bit of that with us and the Kangaroos when I was at Sydney, because they were trying to infiltrate the Sydney market. But, every game is pretty important so it's more about just getting the four points every week.

Favourite song:

I haven't got a favourite song. I like the newer stuff, I like Green Day and Hunters and Collectors, those sorts of bands. I don't own an iPod yet, but I know I need to. My little daughter has one, but I need to get myself one.

Favourite pastime away from football:

Just spending time with the family, really.

Most annoying habit:

(laughs) I like to annoy people. I'll pinch them on the arm or when they're talking to someone, I'll do something to distract them. I can be annoying.

How do you wind down after a game?

I'm pretty good, really. I'll have a glass of wine and maybe something to eat. Having a 10-year-old girl, you obviously come back to reality pretty quickly, so I'll spend time with my family. If I can't sleep at night, I might watch the game again and get on the computer and do edits, and stuff like that. But, you learn over the years, it's vital to get some sort of break away from the game. I don't know if you wind down, as such, but it's vital to get a break or you'll go stir-crazy after a while.

Were you more nervous as a player or as a coach before each game?

For both, it depends on the game. It depends on the importance of the game. I know as a player, sometimes you weren't as anxious as you should be, and other times, you were very anxious as it was a big game, a final, or whatever the case may be.

But, I was probably more consistently nervous as a coach.

Do you have days where you totally forget about football?

Oh yeah. I don't touch the paper, don't turn on the radio, turn the TV off and go out somewhere. Just get away.

What do you really think of Brian Lake's name change?

(laughs) When I first heard it, I thought it was a joke because Brian is a very funny man. But, once you understand why he's done it, I think it took a lot of courage, especially being a profile person. I respect his reasoning, and his conviction to do it.
