After attending Wednesday night’s State of Origin game between Queensland and New South Wales, Fevola was left awestruck by the athleticism and skills of Inglis.
He believes the Queensland centre’s skills would transfer perfectly to AFL.
“Any team, if it was chasing someone, I think they would chase Greg Inglis,” Fevola said.
“He’s got the kicking skills, he can obviously mark it, he’s got the agility and he has got a good fitness base.
“His explosiveness is unbelievable and he loves the fend-off and you couldn’t tackle him so he would be a great bloke to get over to AFL.”
Fevola said it was Inglis’ ability to kick which set him apart from his Queensland origin teammate Israel Folau, who is bound for Greater Western Sydney next season.
“Greg Inglis kicked a big bomb over to him (Folau) last night and it went across the whole field,” Fevola said.
“So if he is thinking about going to Essendon, I think Essendon will be pretty happy to sign him up after that kick; that was a monster.”
Fevola said Folau’s freakish high-marking ability made him a prime candidate to play full-forward for GWS, but that he needed to learn how to kick first.
“I think [GWS] would have been licking their lips last night,” Fevola said.
“He would go well, (at full-forward) he can obviously mark the ball well.
“He’s got two years so hopefully they can teach him how to kick … I’ve seen him kick the rugby ball around a few times and they have sprayed a little bit.”
Fevola was less convinced Karmichael Hunt has a future in attack for Gold Coast after watching his VFL debut against Coburg.
“I think he is a bit too short to be playing full-forward but I think they put him down there just to try and get him a bit of a kick,” Fevola said.
“He got lost a little bit, run under the ball a little bit but they will teach him.”
“He’s got a year to work all that stuff out and build a base of fitness.”
