Campbell said Renouf was a young kid full of energy, adding an extra element to the line-up.
"He's just a kid. He adds vibrancy, he hunts the ball, he's got a bit of agro in him and he loves a contest. He's got a skinhead and he loves a bit of crash and bash," Campbell said.
"He's great for me. He comes on and runs the other ruckman and I come on and try and sustain what he's done. He's added that cog as well."
Renouf replaced the more experienced Simon Taylor for the last home and away game of the season, and Campbell admitted surprise when the young Queenslander replaced the more senior Tasmanian.
"When it first happened I was pretty surprised … but when Simon hurt his leg earlier in the year and he was out for a couple of games, we were very positive and reassured that Brent could come in and play his role adequately," Campbell said.
"We didn't think it was going to drop a level or anything – we thought he was going to be able to come in and play his part, so we'll see which way it goes. But I'm not the coach and he'll make the decision and we'll just roll with it."
Campbell said having Renouf in the team instead of Taylor had not altered his game.
"In terms of us as a ruck group, we're very close and very supportive of each other, so whoever gets the role to go out on Saturday is obviously going to have the backing of [the others]," Campbell said.
"It's probably any position any team wants to be in at this time of the year – having such a good selection of players and not just in the ruck, but all over the field.
Campbell said Geelong's ruck duo of Brad Ottens and Mark Blake represented a significant challenge.
"It's very well documented … that the ruck duels have been pretty critical," Campbell said.
"We love a challenge, so let's go."
