Talented athlete’s proud Whitten connection
When Alexandra Saundry took up AFL it continued a proud football tradition in her family. Related to VFL legend Ted Whitten, Saundry has excelled at several sports but it is AFL that most inspires her.
“I’ve been the school captain for numerous sports,” Saundry reflected “but it’s AFL that I strive to be at the highest level.”
“Being related to Ted Whitten is very special,” she said. “If I keep working hard I would love to do all the things he did but in female football.” Saundry specifically wants to play senior football for Victoria before moving on to coach a senior women’s team.
And with the Whitten pedigree she just might get there.
