After reviewing supporter feedback regarding CTV, Collingwoodfc.com.au will be taking a closer look at past Collingwood champions through a feature entitled “Magpie legends”.  In the second part of a three part series, Gavin Brown discusses the 1990 premiership and his memories of playing for Victoria.

On winning the 1990 premiership
I don’t often think back to it but when I do, I obviously am very proud of it.  I was extremely lucky to be involved in a premiership side.  That’s what you aim to do and that what it’s all about.  It was a fantastic year.  I remember getting to the finals series and to a man, everyone had a burning desire inside of him.  We were full of business.  In hindsight we were never going to lose it.

Right now we have got a very, very young list and it’s very reminiscent of the under-19 days with (Gavin) Crosisca, Monkey (Damian Monkhurst) and (Michael) McGuane.  Who came along and grew together from 1987 to 1990.  That’s very similar of where we are at the moment and in the process of hopefully going all the way
.

On playing for Victoria
I loved playing state football.  I remember as a kid watching state forty.  I loved watching the great players from all the teams playing together.  Particularly playing South Australia, who we had a great rivalry with and getting Mum to pick me up early (from school) because I remember they started on Tuesday afternoons.   I loved playing alongside Darryl White, Terry Daniher, (Tim) Watson, (Dermott) Brereton, (Gary) Ablett, and Greg Williams.
