Collingwood has finished eighth on the AFL ladder after the home-and-away rounds of the 2008 season and will travel to AAMI Stadium to take on Adelaide in a sudden-death elimination final on Saturday afternoon.

The Magpies finished with 12 wins and 10 losses, and will face a Crows outfit that secured one more victory than the Pies during the season, including a confidence-boosting final-round triumph over the third-placed Bulldogs.

A victory over the fifth-placed Crows will see the Pies advance to a semi final at the MCG the following weekend against the loser of the Geelong-St Kilda qualifying final.

It's the Magpies' third-consecutive finals series having narrowly missed out on a grand final berth in 2007, with many young players having again been instrumental in the team's ability to experience September action.
