MELBOURNE is set to host its major 'Debt Demolition' fundraising dinner on Tuesday night as the club focuses on slashing its $5 million debt.

The club is hosting a dinner in Kensington for 150 cashed-up Melbourne supporters who are expected to tip in at least $5000, on top of their $1000 entry ticket.

Melbourne football operations manager Ross Monaghan revealed to melbournefc.com.au that the players' lockers would be featured at the 'Debt Demolition' night.

"The lockers have disappeared [at Junction Oval] for the 'Debt Demolition' night, so there are bags laying around all over the place, but it makes it a bit fun," Monaghan said.

"It's a bit messier than it normally is, but the mini movers came in this morning and they were gone in no time, but it's all good for the night – the club's expecting a fantastic night and I'm sure it will be."

This is just one of several activities the Demons are doing during August to reduce their considerable debt.

A 'Debt Demolition' website – www.debtdemolition.com.au – has been set-up for supporters to contribute to the cause.

Foxtel is also matching the contributions of members and supporters – dollar for dollar – up to $100,000.

Melbourne is also holding a free event on August 31 after its round 22 clash against Richmond.

More details will follow, but president Jim Stynes, coach Dean Bailey and the players will be in attendance. Free entertainment will also be provided for the kids.
