This month saw the commencement of the very popular “Get your Kicks at the G Program” at the MCG.
This program provides both country and metropolitan schools the opportunity to come along to the MCG and participate in three events, a visit to the National Sports Museum, a Tour of the MCG and experience the Game On interactive sports display.
AFL Victoria as part of the G Footy Program hosted two events this month for secondary schools and will host another two events for Primary Schools in July.
On Tuesday 8 June, seven schools with 180 students from Kilvington Girls Grammar, Parkdale SC, Fountain Gate SC, St Francis Xavier, Bendigo South East SC, Patterson River SC and Western Port SC spent the morning participating in all three activities.
On Friday 11 June, four schools, Lyndhust SC, Parkdale SC, Caulfield Park SC and Weeroona College Bendigo, all participated in the program.
Shawn McCormick teacher from Weeroona College said, “It is a fantastic for country kids to get the opportunity to come to the MCG, 90% of the kids had never come to the MCG before and they were all here on their day off”.
