Kerr told the Sunday Herald Sun that last season was a disaster and that he intends to rectify things this year.
"There can never be any guarantees, but I can do my best to say that I won't miss games through poor discipline and that I will do my best to do everything right for this footy club," Kerr said.
"I'm coming off easily the worst year of my career. My objective is purely to play every game, or a minimum of 20 games.
"I accept that it was my own fault that I only played 11 games last season. I need to take baby steps and play a week at a time with a view to making it through to the end of the season without a blemish.
"I've got to keep my aggression to play the footy the way I want to, but it's the undisciplined acts of aggression that have to come out of my game."
Despite rumours that the star midfielder was looking to leave the Eagles last year, Kerr said he never had any intention of going anywhere else.
"I was always going to stay. It was some contractual things that the club wanted in a new agreement that we had to come to terms over.
"With my past indiscretions, on and off the field, there were a few things that the club wanted in the contract and it took longer to negotiate because I was looking for a long-term deal.
"My playing ability was never questioned; it was more whether I could stay on the field or not."
