GEELONG will have star goalkicker Tom Hawkins available for Saturday night's crucial clash with West Coast, with the key forward successfully overturning his one-match suspension at the AFL Tribunal.

Hawkins had been offered a one-match ban by the Match Review Officer, having elbowed Fremantle defender Luke Ryan to the neck/chest region during Monday night's victory in wet conditions at Optus Stadium.

The Cats were able to downgrade the charge from 'high' contact to 'body' contact, successfully arguing that Hawkins had initially struck Ryan's collarbone and that there was insufficient force made to any other region.

The Dockers medical report backed up Hawkins' claim, which had revealed that Ryan felt contact to his collarbone before it slid to his neck.

'High' contact is considered anything above the shoulders.

The Tribunal deliberated for 26 minutes, before overturning Hawkins' suspension.

Hawkins was subsequently offered a $1000 fine for the charge of intentional conduct with low impact to the body, which is his 10th Match Review charge and his seventh striking charge in less than five seasons.

He will now be available for Geelong's pivotal Saturday night encounter with fellow premiership contender West Coast at Optus Stadium in a match that pits third against fifth.

Hawkins, a key member of the Cats' forward line, kicked three goals in Monday night's victory over the Dockers, taking his tally to 14 majors from eight matches this season.
