SYDNEY ruckman Darcy Cameron has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.
Cameron was injured in the Swans' 171-point thumping of the Giants on Saturday in the NEAFL when he tackled his opponent Dawson Simpson, and dislocated his right shoulder.
The 21-year-old showed promising signs during the JLT Community Series but hasn't been able to force his way into John Longmire's side, despite the poor form and injury troubles of Kurt Tippett, Sam Naismith and Callum Sinclair early in the season.
Swans general manager of football Tom Harley said the West Australian, taken with pick No.48 in last year's NAB AFL Draft, had already consulted a specialist and will look to have surgery next week.
"He's an important part of our future so we'll give him every opportunity to get himself right with a big pre-season, but it's certainly disappointing for Darcy and we wish him well," he said.
In other injury news at the Swans, Jarrad McVeigh (hamstring) has already been ruled out of Saturday's clash with Richmond, with the former co-captain set to increase his training next week in a bid to return in round 14 against Essendon at the SCG.
Speedy onballer Harry Cunningham is making good progress after partially tearing the Lisfranc ligament in his foot against St Kilda in round nine and could be a chance to play in the next in the next fortnight, along with luckless midfielder Dan Robinson (jaw).
