During the 2008 Toyota AFL Premiership season there will be a total of 32 field umpires, 4 supplementary field umpires, 37 boundary umpires and 30 goal umpires on the AFL Umpires Panel. A grand total of 103 umpires.
In each round of the home and away season 64 umpires will officiate over the eight matches with an additional 16 umpires filling emergency roles during the round, a total of 80 appointments per weekend.
The five vacant positions on the field umpires list will be filled by the trialing field umpires with four of the remaining five trialing umpires to be appointed to the supplementary field umpires list.
