The form of West Coast Eagles rookies has again been recognised with utility player Lewis Stevenson elevated to the senior list to play against Sydney at the SCG on Saturday.
Stevenson has been in outstanding form for Claremont in the WAFL in the past month, excelling off half-back and through the midfield, and has been rewarded with the opportunity to play his first game in a match which will played in recognition of HMAS Sydney.
The club pushed Stevenson onto the senior list as the replacement for star midfielder Daniel Kerr who last week suffered a hamstring tendon injury which is going to sideline him for up to 12 weeks.
The promotion of Stevenson comes a week after mature rookie Ashton Hams made his debut against Essendon last Friday night.
In contrast to Hams, drafted last November, Stevenson is in his third year in the squad and has been steadily developing in that time. This year he has made quantum leaps forward to be in red-hot form for the undefeated Tigers.
Also included in the team to play the Swans is precision-kicking defender Shannon Hurn, who resumes after a two-game suspension. He has been included at the expense of forward Ashley Hansen.
