The new free Footy Express bus service was launched today and will operate for the first time for Saturday night’s NAB Cup grand final at AAMI Stadium.

SA Lotteries has teamed up with the SANFL, the State Government and the Adelaide and Port Adelaide football clubs to support the service, which will operate before and after all AFL games at AAMI Stadium this season.

An extra late service from the Crows Shed (two hours after the final siren) will be one of the new features for Crows fans.

Other benefits of the Footy Express service include:

• Patrons’ ticket for the game will also be their ticket to travel on any SA Lotteries Footy Express service operated by Adelaide Metro. Previously, fans were paying up to $11 for a return trip to an AFL game at AAMI Stadium.

• Additional services both pre and post match have been implemented for season 2008 to cater for the expected increase in demand.

• Services will start earlier to ensure fans can catch all the pre-match entertainment

• Additional late services will depart an hour after the game to ensure fans can attend post match celebrations.

• The new SA Lotteries Footy Express guide is easy to read and shows first and last services relevant to the game time at the top of the timetable, plus the minutes between each service.

Adelaide chief executive Steven Trigg welcomed the new arrangements and the role of SA Lotteries Footy Express in helping the Crows play to sell-out crowds every week.

“Thousands of our supporters catch the bus to the games each week and this agreement means we will continue to fill the stadium which provides us with a competitive edge over rival AFL clubs,” Mr Trigg said.

SANFL Executive Commissioner Leigh Whicker said the League is thrilled that SA Lotteries continues to support football in this state, with footy fans the real winners on this occasion.

“SA Lotteries’ support of this service will ensure the provision of free public transport to and from AAMI Stadium which will further enhance its position as South Australia’s premier sporting venue,” he said.
