LEON Cameron's same gut feel that anticipated the commitment of Stephen Coniglio last season has led the GWS coach to believe Jeremy Cameron and Zac Williams will stay for "another four or five years".

As Coniglio contemplated leaving to accept more lucrative offers from Carlton and Hawthorn last year, his coach stood firm and back his now-captain to remain

Coniglio ultimately re-signed for seven years, with attention quickly turning to the club's two highest profile free agents for 2020.

"My gut always tells me they're going to stay, we've been pretty right most of the time," Leon Cameron said on Wednesday.

"Everyone knows we've had to reluctantly move on some players and probably players who didn't want to go as well.

"My gut tells you, in a short answer, that those two boys will be running around in the Giants colours for another four or five years. They love the place."

Jeremy Cameron is one of seven restricted free agents in the competition this season and will likely have to fend off extra cash from clubs such as Geelong and Essendon in order to stay, while Williams is an unrestricted free agent.

"You just see Zac's return last week (from a hamstring injury), he loves being around the boys and his return was really pleasing. And Jezza's just Jezza, he keeps on keeping on," the coach said.

"We understand there's going to be speculation every year which is not new for us, but those two guys are an important part of our footy club and expect them to be here for a long time.

THE LADDER Where is your team sitting?

"There's no doubt Jase (head of football Jason McCartney) has been having great dialogue with the boys out of contract, knowing there was a (contract re-signing) freeze for probably the best part of three or four months.

"Now you can start to progress and sign players but equally you've also got to wait for that salary cap adjustment if it happens at the end of the year as well.

"In terms of the dialogue we're having with the managers of our players that are unsigned at the moment, that's all heading in the right direction which is why my gut tells me there'll be no issues."

Other Giants out of contract this season include Aidan Corr (restricted free agent), Harry Perryman, Jeremy Finlayson, Jackson Hately, Xavier O'Halloran and Jye Caldwell.

The Giants are predicting only two or three changes for Friday night's clash with Essendon off a five-day break as they look to cover hamstrung pair Toby Greene and Matt de Boer.

THE FULL INJURY LIST Who is racing the clock?

Former skipper Callan Ward will need to get through training on Wednesday afternoon in order to be selected after a three-week knee injury, with Ian Hill, O'Halloran and Jack Buckley among others to be considered.

Cameron praised the last fortnight for ruck recruit Sam Jacobs as his best block of the season to date but conceded he may be rested in place of Shane Mumford.
