BRISBANE has no mental hang-ups about playing Richmond and has put its poor goalkicking behind it ahead of Saturday night's game against the Western Bulldogs, says Callum Ah Chee.
The Lions lost for a 15th straight time against the Tigers on Tuesday night, kicking a woefully inaccurate 4.17.
It was eerily reminiscent of last year's qualifying final against the same opponent where Brisbane kicked 8.17 and cost itself a chance of winning despite matching the premier in most other areas.
Ah Chee said the Tigers had no mental hold.
"Not in my head," he said.
"Most of the blokes haven't been playing since 2009 (when Brisbane last won) so I don't think that's been much of a problem.
"They're a fantastic team. We took a lot of positives."
The Lions won the clearance count and only barely trailed in contested footy and inside 50s, which drew even more attention to their conversion struggles.
Ah Chee, who was shifted forward from his usual half-back role to cover for the injured Cam Rayner, said they hadn't dwelt on the misses too much.
"It's pretty obvious that it's something we need to work on, but it's not the be all and end all," he said.
"It won't be a massive focus this week … it's just going to be playing a good brand of footy and beating the Western Bulldogs on the inside and worrying about the mid-forward connection.
"I think 'Fages' (coach Chris Fagan) has been pretty good. He understands we don't go out there to miss.
"It was a little bit frustrating when you can't finish what the team's done in general play, but it's something we've got to work on."
