BRISBANE'S inaccuracy in front of goal is a non-issue for coach Chris Fagan.

The Lions shot themselves in the foot in Tuesday night's loss to Richmond, kicking 4.17 to solidify their spot as the least accurate team in 2020.

I wouldn't like the image out there that we just kick poorly every week, because that's not true

But Fagan says you have to dig a bit deeper than raw numbers.

"We're 18th, but that's on the back of two really poor games," he said.

"We shouldn't carry on like we kick 15 more points than goals each week."

Brisbane has a total record of 97.122 for the season, an accuracy of 44 per cent from its shots that have scored, well below the league average of 53 per cent.

"It happened last week and happened in the game against Adelaide where we kicked 10.23 … two games, 14 goals 40.

"Outside of that we've kicked more goals than points … and four or five times we've kicked more goals than points, so we've had a problem in two particular games.

"The week before we kicked 14.7 against Essendon, which is good kicking.

"It fluctuates.

"I wouldn't like the image out there that we just kick poorly every week, because that's not true."

Fagan said he wasn't sure what the problem was against Richmond, but was certain the media had talked about it more than Brisbane had.

"There were lots of elements of our game last week that were the best they've ever been against Richmond, so we know we've actually grown playing against them," he said.

"We're equal second on the ladder. The ladder always gives you some good feedback.

THE LADDER Where is your team sitting?

"I think our game's in good shape."

The coach said all of his attention since Tuesday night was focused on the Western Bulldogs, who Brisbane plays at the Gabba on Saturday night.

It will be the Lions' fourth game in 14 days.
