GREATER Western Sydney full-back Phil Davis has failed to overcome a knee injury and will miss Thursday night's Sydney Derby against the Swans in Perth.
Davis hurt the medial ligament in his left knee in the Giants' nail-biting win over Essendon last Friday night and did not recover in time.
It is the first game the former captain has missed in 2020.
Ruckman Shane Mumford has been rested for the match at Optus Stadium, with Sam Jacobs and debutant Tom Hutchesson the two replacements.
Less than two years ago he was playing country footy. Now, Tom Hutchesson will make his AFL debut in the Sydney Derby.

The Swans have made three changes to the team beaten by Collingwood last-start, with Nick Blakey one of the men returning.
Blakey is joined by Colin O'Riordan and Zac Foot, who come in at the expense of the injured Aliir Aliir and promising youngsters Matthew Ling and Elijah Taylor.
Foot, who is also making his debut, is a speedy half-forward. He was taken by the Swans with pick 51 in the 2018 NAB AFL Draft.
It will be the first time a match between these clubs has been played outside New South Wales.
