CONSENSUS No. 1 draft pick Tom Boyd will meet with Melbourne, Greater Western Sydney and St Kilda at this week's NAB AFL Draft Combine.

Boyd is due to meet with the Demons' recruiting staff later on Wednesday, while he will sit down with the Giants and Saints later this week.

However, the power forward will not take part in any of the physical testing, as he recovers from a serious ankle injury.

Boyd kicked four goals in the TAC Cup Grand Final a little more than a week ago in his first game since injuring his ankle playing for Vic Metro in the Under-18 NAB AFL Championships in June.

Boyd is still unsure where his football future lies and is adamant Lance Franklin's likely signing at the Sydney Swans via free agency has not impacted on where he will play next season.

"It was a bit of a distraction yesterday with Buddy's news," Boyd said at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

"To be totally honest I don't really know how much it depends on what Buddy's doing.

"There's a lot of speculation and talk in the media about my future and I'm just waiting out for what the club wants to do with the pick.

"Whether I'm the No.1 or not it's just something I need to wait and see."

Boyd would relish the chance to learn from gifted young GWS stars Jeremy Cameron and Jonathon Patton in what could only be termed as a fearsome forward line.

"Those two boys are obviously super talented players," Boyd said.

"To play alongside those two would be a super experience, but also just to learn as much as I can off them, if I get there."

Boyd said he wants to make an instant impact once his AFL career kicks off.

"I hope to first get to a club and earn the respect of my teammates, which I think is imperative to your standing at the club," he said.

"From there, hopefully have a good pre-season maybe play NAB Cup and look to play as many games as I can. If you go in with an attitude that the first couple of years are just warm up then you're probably being a bit naïve.

"I want to get in there and make my mark as soon as possible."
