ADELAIDE assistant coach Ben Hart is exploring his options at rival clubs while development coach Ryan O'Keefe is also out of contract at the end of season.

Hart and O'Keefe are among 13 names on the AFL Coaches' Association's list of assistant coaches who are unsigned for next year and looking at other opportunities.

Hart is in his second stint as a Crows assistant coach, having returned to the club this year as a defensive coach.

Crows coach Don Pyke said they were keen to retain Hart's services next year.

"We've had conversations with Ben ongoing about his continual involvement in our program next year, so that's part of the discussion we have with our coaches," Pyke said.

"The list that comes out is guys that are out of contract for next year.

"Those conversations are happening ongoing as I'm sure they are with Ken and his coaching staff around those coaches you want to retain and those that maybe are looking for other opportunities.

"That's the process the Coaches' Association has set out around how they manage the end of season.

"He's not uncertain at all from our viewpoint."

Hart was an assistant coach at the Crows from 2008-11 before spending five seasons at Collingwood from 2012-16.

O'Keefe – who played 286 games for Sydney – joined the Crows as a midfield development coach in 2015.

He took over as the coach of the Crows' SANFL team in 2017 and has this year taken on a forwards' development coaching role.

Meanwhile, AFL.com.au revealed Greater Western Sydney is trying to poach senior Port Adelaide assistant Matthew Nicks, but coach Ken Hinkley was unaware of the approach.

Nicks has been on the Power's coaching staff since 2011 in a variety of roles, including as a development coach, defence and forwards, before moving into the senior assistant position last year.

Nicks has spoken openly about his desire to be a senior coach and he is highly regarded in the industry.

"Not to my knowledge," Hinkley said of the Giants' plans to recruit Nicks.

"That's not for me to take care of.

"I'm concerned with the things that are in my control and that's a game tomorrow night.

"The Coaches' Association have things in place that help and support all coaches in the competition, that's what they're there for."
