A NEW COVID-19 outbreak in south-east Queensland won't stop Brisbane hosting up to 16,000 people for Sunday's clash with St Kilda.

The Queensland Government confirmed the state had discovered nine new COVID-19 cases on Saturday morning.

While new restrictions will cap gatherings in Greater Brisbane at 10 and the rest of the state at 30, businesses with COVID-19 safe plans will be able to proceed as planned.

The Lions will be allowed a crowd of up to 16,000 for their date with the Saints, while the restrictions won't impact plans for Saturday's clash between the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne.
