HAS THE Teague Train found its conductor? 

His name is Bradley Charles Stubbs – the man responsible for transforming some of the biggest coaches in world sport.

And he has held a link with Carlton coach David Teague in the past fortnight as the Blues have turned their season around to sit within one win of the top eight.

Coined 'The Coach Whisperer', Stubbs' methods are built on creating a winning mindset for the coach by what he describes as 're-programming the subconscious mind'.

AFL.com.au can reveal Teague held a 'belief' session with Stubbs over the phone in the days leading up to the Blues' incredible after-the-siren win against Fremantle in round 12. 

Stubbs, who is based on the Gold Coast, was also spotted at Blues training this week watching from afar alongside media crews before later speaking to Teague, albeit from an allowable distance.

However, as the Blues prepare for a season-defining clash with Collingwood, it appears any formal relationship into the future has been scuppered due to the financial toll on football departments in 2020.

"We appreciate the interest that Bradley has expressed in the club, however at this point in time, this isn't an avenue we will be pursuing given we are comfortable with our existing systems and structures in place," Blues CEO Cain Liddle told AFL.com.au.

Stubbs' impact on Teague shone through following the thrilling win over the Dockers.

"We've got belief, we believe in ourselves. We go out every week expecting to win," Teague said in his post-match press conference.

"We expect to go and win from now on every time we run on the oval. We expect to win. There's no game we go out there thinking we can't win."

It's a statement that comes direct from the textbook of Stubbs' teaching. He has even written a book titled, "The Science of Belief."

As Stubbs says on his own website, "Expect to win. Done, done, done. Coach the coaches – mentor the mentors."

Words such as "hope" are banned for the coaches because as he believes they carry no energy.  

 Stubbs is no stranger to AFL circles after holding a one-off session with Richmond coach Damien Hardwick in February 2017, just months before he secured the Tigers' breakthrough flag. 

He also met with Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley when the Pies held a camp in Queensland some years ago.

It is believed the common link has been through Richmond head of football Neil Balme who previously worked at the Pies before moving to Punt Road ahead of the 2017 flag.

But it is in the rugby league and soccer codes where 'The Coach Whisperer' has made the most waves with his dealings with clubs mystifying fans, players, rival coaches and officials alike.

Stubbs has landed titles and championships with Trent Robinson (Sydney Roosters, NRL), Michael Maguire (Sydney Rabbitohs, NRL) and Graham Arnold (Sydney FC, A-League).

He has also worked with Rugby Union coaches Michael Cheika (Australia) and Eddie Jones (England), Queensland State of Origin coach Kevin Walters and professional surfer Taj Burrow.

Stubbs joined Robinson at the Roosters for their 2018 NRL premiership after he appeared out of nowhere during a pre-season training session and introduced himself to the coach.

After a lengthy chat following the session, a partnership was formed and the club tasted success later that year.

He stayed in Robinson's camp for last year's success and is still working with the dual premiership coach as he chases a third consecutive title. 

Robinson's public narrative on exactly what 'The Coach Whisperer' delivers him has been a closely guarded secret but he has previously been quoted describing him as "the man with the one-percenters".

Stubbs thrives on energy and believes messaging in the media dictates the direction of the coach who is leading an organisation. 

A quote from Robinson ahead of the Roosters' round eight clash with the Melbourne Storm this season follows a similar theme.  

"We want to wholeheartedly believe in our style of play. We believe in the way that we play, and we believe in the intensity we play with and the focus we play with," Robinson said.

Ahead of last week's win over Gold Coast, Teague leant on the same message.

"Our group believes, believes strongly. We think every week we go out there we expect to win," Teague said.

Stubbs conducts sessions with his coaches each week based off a lifetime of reading the human mind. And he doesn't have any formal qualifications.

"I haven't been to university, I've got no degrees, I spent 35 years researching human subconscious minds," Stubbs told Fox Sports in a rare interview in 2018.

He has also spoken in the past of how his journey as a professional surfer was cut short following a car accident which resulted in a mental breakdown and led to him researching more about the human brain.

"Belief is the most powerful energy you've got - the universe is the most powerful natural energy there is. With the two together, miracles happen," he said in the interview.

Whatever work he has done with Teague in the past fortnight has already delivered one miracle against the Dockers… could another be on the way with Carlton's first genuine top-eight finish since 2011?
