WEST Coast is back in Queensland for the remainder of the season, but coach Adam Simpson is confident the club will not endure the same hub-related issues it faced earlier in its 2020 campaign.

The Eagles struggled with the uncertainty of being situated in Queensland for an arduous five-week stretch earlier this season, losing three successive matches to Gold Coast, Brisbane and Port Adelaide by an average of more than 40 points.

Forced to return to Queensland for another five-match period to conclude the season, starting with Thursday night's encounter with Richmond at Metricon Stadium, Simpson believes the club is now benefiting from its prior experiences.

"It's a different feel with different issues," Simpson said.

"We've only been here two days, but it's all going well at the moment.

THE LADDER Where is your team sitting?

"Obviously, the performances we had earlier in the year weren't great. We didn't play well and we had to change a few things on and off the field.

"We probably went through six months of growth in three weeks, which was great in the long-term. I think it's really held us in good stead. I feel like that journey has been done, now we've got a different path.

"Whether we play well or not, it won't be reflected on being in Queensland. It will just be on our performances and how well we play."

West Coast will blood 198cm big man Bailey Williams for Thursday night's clash, with the youngster impressing in a series of recent scratch matches with his athleticism in the ruck.

Williams, taken with pick No.35 in the 2018 NAB AFL Draft, will partner Nic Naitanui in the ruck as Oscar Allen will miss with a hip injury.

The Eagles haven't ruled out the prospect of also handing Naitanui a rest in the latter stages of the season, with their next four games coming in a 15-day span.

"We'll have to see how they pull up," Simpson said.

"Across the competition, strength and conditioning coaches have all been pretty surprised with how players have pulled up and prepared off the shorter time between games.

THE FULL INJURY LIST Who is racing the clock?

"A lot of it is mental. We're hitting our condensed fixture moving forward, so if they pull up fine and recover well then we'll see how we go. If they pull up sore and we don't think it's the right thing to do to play them, then we'll manage them.

"That's the approach we're taking, and all of our players have pulled up well except for a couple. The couple who didn't won't play."
