HAWTHORN coach Alastair Clarkson exited Adelaide Oval a winner on Thursday night, and this time he took the bus.
After Clarkson's infamous run-in with a fan after Hawthorn's last trip to Adelaide Oval – a loss to Port Adelaide in round five – the three-time premiership coach was asked by journalists whether he'd again take the walk over the footbridge across the River Torrens back to the team hotel.
"No, I'm going to get one of those Armaguard trucks," Clarkson joked.
Following the round five clash the AFL banned club officials and personnel from returning to their team hotel on foot, insisting the team bus was the only way they could leave an AFL venue.
Asked if the clash had been on his mind, he said, "No. [It was] just an unfortunate incident."
Clarkson's Wednesday press conference at Melbourne Airport before the Hawks flew to Adelaide was almost taken over after another member of the public stood behind the Hawthorn coach.

"Did you see that cracker have a go at me in Melbourne yesterday?" Clarkson asked journalists.
"It happens and we've just got to deal with it from time to time, and I perhaps didn't deal with that one (the Adelaide incident) as well as I should have the first time round."
