It is believed Gibbs and the club have come to a settlement to cease the final year of his contract for 2021.
“The @CarltonFC gave me the opportunity to fulfill a boyhood dream and I cannot thank them enough... I have given my all in 14 seasons at the top level and I’m looking forward to playing against some of my lifelong friends one final time."

His South Australian-based family will fly to Metricon Stadium for the game on Sunday.
The club has just announced Gibbs will speak at a media conference today at 3.45pm ACST.
It comes on the same day former Carlton teammate and fellow No.1 draft pick Matthew Kreuzer will call time on his career.
Gibbs finally got his wish to join the Crows at the end of 2017 after a failed attempt to move back to his home state at the end of 2016.
In 11 seasons at the Blues he played 231 matches and won the 2014 best and fairest with six other top-five finishes.
In a deal that cost the Crows pick 10, 16, 73 and a future second-round pick, Gibbs arrived on a four-year deal along with pick 77 and future second and third-round selections.
Seen as the missing piece in the Crows' midfield following the 2017 Grand Final defeat, Gibbs played 22 games in 2018 and finished fourth in the best and fairest as the Crows missed the finals.
He played 12 matches last year after losing favour with former coach Don Pyke, while Sunday's clash with the Blues will be his third and final match for 2020.
