Over 140 HFC Life Members got together for their eighth annual luncheon last Sunday at the Mulgrave Club. The room bubbled with excitement as former players, coaches, committee members and training staff who had been honoured with club life membership greeted one another.

The great win over Collingwood the day before set the tone of conversation.  The highlight of the day for many was the attended of our four premiership coaches, John Kennedy Snr, 1961, 1971, 1976, David Parkin 1978, Alan Jeans 1983, 1986, 1989, and Allan Joyce 1988, 1991.

Brian Kann presents Con Kanis his Life Membership Tie

Graham Arthur hosted the day in fine style. Con Kanis and Trent Croad who both received their Life Membership at the 2007 Annual Meeting were presented their LM ties by Brian Kann and Mark Graham.

The audience that included six former coaches and four former captains listened with great interest to current coach Alister Clarkson, Club Captain Sam Mitchell and Football Manager Mark Evans outline their goals for the continuing season and beyond.

A number of the LM’s, Ian Law, Brian Kann, Ken Hopper, Brian Albiston and Jenny Brown and their partners had an enjoyable tour of the Hawks Museum and Club Training facilities and were astounded with the difference to their beloved Glenferrie.

Thanks must go to John O’Mahony and his team for organizing the day, which has become a very important date on the Club calendar for the men and women who have made the Club what it is today.
