THE final round of the 2015 Toyota AFL Premiership season will see the iconic umpiring uniform turned an effervescent blue to raise awareness for OPSM charity partner, OneSight.

Since 1988, OPSM has proudly supported OneSight, a non-profit organisation providing vision care for communities in need. In 2014, OneSight assisted the lives of over 10,000 Australians.

As the AFL’s official eye care and umpiring partner, OPSM is also asking football fans to support OneSight’s commitment to providing eye screening to those with limited access to care.

Titled the Help Us Help Others campaign, it will mark the third successive year that the umpires have worn an OPSM charity-linked uniform in the history of the AFL.

AFL General Manager of Football Operations, Mark Evans, is proud that the AFL can support the work of OneSight and raise community awareness of the campaign.

"The AFL, in association with OPSM, is delighted to be a part of this important initiative and we hope the change in the umpires’ uniforms in Round 23 will ultimately lead to greater support for the OneSight Foundation,” Evans said.

OneSight is dedicated to improving the vision for those in need worldwide through outreach, research and education. Over the last 25 years, the Foundation helped improve the sight of almost 8.5 million people around the world. In Australia, OneSight conducts clinics in remote Indigenous communities as well as at schools assisted by OPSM optometrists.

Robyn Weinberg, Director of OneSight, is appreciative of the support of the AFL and OPSM in such a public way.

“We are focused on creating sustainable and accessible eyecare solutions across Australia. With the public’s support we will continue to provide vision clinics in schools, and serve underprivileged and Indigenous communities in regional and remote areas of Australia,” Weinberg said.
