HAWTHORN midfielder Cyril Rioli and Richmond defender Luke McGuane are both facing time on the sidelines after they were cited by the match review panel on Monday.

Rioli has been charged with a level two striking offence against Melbourne's Nathan Jones.

Due to his 48.75 demerit points carried over from last year, he will miss one week even if he takes an early guilty plea.

Jones spent more than a minute hunched over after receiving the glancing blow from Rioli during the second quarter of the Demons' big loss to the Hawks on Sunday.

The match review panel deemed Rioli's conduct to have been intentional but of a low impact.

McGuane has been charged with engaging in rough play against St Kilda's Farren Ray during the second quarter of the Tigers' draw with the Saints on Friday night.

The high bump has been classified as a level three offence, meaning it attracts a three-match suspension.

McGuane, who was reported after the incident, can have the penalty reduced to two games if he pleads guilty.

Brisbane Lion James Polkinghorne an accept a reprimand after he was cited for striking Western Bulldogs midfielder Callan Ward, while Daniel Giansiracusa and Jed Adcock were fined for wresting during the same game.

Sydney Swan Kieran Jack also copped a fine for making negligent contact with an umpire during his team's victory over Essendon at ANZ Stadium on Sunday.

However, Geelong trio Cameron Ling, Joel Corey and Corey Enright are all in the clear.

Ling's jab into the midriff of Fremantle's Hayden Ballantyne was looked at, but the panel decided not enough force was used to make it a reportable offence.

The same conclusion was reached after vision of Corey's tangle with Adam McPhee and Enright's bump on Kepler Bradley was viewed.
