The Sandakan Death March charity trek will be hosted by the very popular Les Burdett of Adelaide Oval fame and will depart Adelaide April 22 and return May 5.
The Sandakan Death March trek retraces the steps of some of our nation’s bravest sons who perished on three marches at the end of World War Two. Of the 2434 prisoners incarcerated at Sandakan only six would survive - one of most tragic chapters in Australians at war.
The trek is challenging although the group return to three star accommodation each night enabling all those with a sense of adventure who are prepared to do some training the capacity to complete the 60km trek over six days.
This is a unique opportunity for members and supporters to honour our brave diggers, tackle and adventure and support children living with cancer in SA at the same time.
The cost of the trek is $6500 per person and this includes the minimum fundraising donation of $1500. The cost includes return airfares, all accommodation on the tour, experienced tour guides, all meals on the tour, all transfers, travel taxes plus much more. AFC Members and supporters who join the trek tour will also receive two exclusive training sessions in the Westpac Centre at AAMI Stadium and enjoy the unique privilege of a lap of honour at a home game upon your return.
