GEELONG has left out superstar Gary Ablett for Saturday's NAB Cup quarter-final clash against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.

The champion Cat has been rested, along with integral midfielder Cameron Ling.

Ablett played a blinder against Adelaide at Telstra Dome, picking up from where he left 2008, which included an outstanding performance against Hawthorn in last year's grand final.

The Cats have brought in premiership players Brad Ottens, Darren Milburn and Josh Hunt, as well as rookies Shane Mumford and Brodie Moles also in the 29-man squad.

The Power has included gun midfielder Steven Salopek, 2008 Australian International Rules representative David Rodan and defender Michael Pettigrew. Robbie Gray, Tom Logan and Nick Salter have also been added to the provisional line-up.

Salopek missed the latter part of the 2008 with an achilles injury, playing just two matches after round 13.

Playmaker Peter Burgoyne and youngster Marlon Motlop are out of the side.

Carlton will be without 2007 No.1 draftee Matthew Kreuzer and its first top pick in last year's NAB AFL Draft, Chris Yarran for Sunday's twilight clash at Telstra Dome.

Yarran sustained an ankle injury against North Melbourne last Friday night.

Coming in for the Blues are Brad Fisher, Richard Hadley, Mark Austin, Shaun Hampson and David Ellard.

The Hawks have yet to omit anyone from last Saturday's come-from-behind win over Melbourne, although 2008 premiership player Brent Guerra returns to the squad.

Ex-Brisbane Lion Haydn Kiel is in line to play his first match for the Hawks, with beanpole teenager Luke Lowden also in the mix.

The winners of this weekend's quarter finals will advance into the semi finals, with the losers to play in the NAB Challenge series.
