The event date was initially scheduled for Saturday 8 October, but has since been moved forward to accommodate the players’ post-season break which will now commence in September.
This end-of-season ‘night of nights’ brings players, coaches, staff and fans together to celebrate and recognise the season’s highest achievers.
The evening culminates in the presentation of the Merrett-Murray Medal for the Club’s Best & Fairest player. It is the single highest Club honour that any Lions player can strive towards.
This year’s race for Club Champion is wide open with a number of relatively new faces including Jack Redden, Tom Rockliff and Matthew Leuenberger vying for their maiden win.
Then there’s Simon Black - a three-time Club Champion winner - and Runner-Up for the past three seasons. The veteran midfield superstar has been a standout again in 2011 and could potentially take home his fourth Merrett-Murray Medal.
A range of other individual awards will also be presented throughout the night including Rookie of the Year, Shaun Hart Most Courageous Player, Marcus Ashcroft Most Professional Player, Players’ Player of the Year and Members’ Player of the Year.
Tickets for the Club Champion dinner are $165 per person and include a three-course meal, premium beverage package (including selected spirits), full season review and live entertainment with band ‘Miles from Nowhere’.
