The quest to find fresh talent for an AFL side is never-ending, and Mark Thompson believes he may have found one such player in last week’s win over Carlton in ruckman Henry Playfair.

In the absence of injured pair Steven King and Paul Chambers, Playfair – who has played just six games – was one of the Cats’ best against the Blues.

“I was rapt with Henry Playfair’s performance,” Thompson said.

“He is good enough to play league footy after that game and that’s the first time I have seen that from him at this level, which is fantastic.”

“He rucked well and helped us at the stoppages and he was pushing back and taking some strong marks.”

While King remains sidelined, the Cats expect Chambers (calf) to return against the Demons while star forward Gary Ablett could also return after resuming in the VFL last week following a groin injury.
