He's always had huge expectations on his shoulders, but this year Daniel Wells went a long way towards proving the doubters wrong.

The 25 year-old had a dominant pre-season, and despite a couple of quieter games in the opening rounds he was back to his best against the Eagles.

Wells was in fine touch over the next month and importantly had an impact on the scoreboard when he drifted forward.

Although there was a minor hiccup against the Bombers late in the season when he withdrew with a quad injury, Wells had one of his most consistent seasons yet.

AFL.com.au’s Steve Lavell says: Won his 2009 battle with osteitis pubis to recapture some of his best form. Spent the early part of the season as a forward before shifting into the midfield. Classy delivery made him a weapon at half-back too.
