The Vodafone Brisbane Lions have been keeping a close eye on their newest AFL Scholarship player James Brain, who has just completed another season of football in the local NSW competition.

15 year-old Brain was signed by the Lions earlier this year under the NSW AFL Scholarship system and is showing plenty of promise.

Most recently, Brain captained his club St Ives to a premiership and took home both the Sydney Northside Associations under 15’s best and fairest and his club’s best and fairest award.

While his performances have been impressive so far, there is still a long path to follow before he reaches the AFL ranks.

As part of the scholarship program, each AFL club must select one player (maximum of two) for a football scholarship. To be eligible, players must be aged between 15 and 17 and have been living in the New South Wales Region for a maximum of three years.

The Lions will continue to closely monitor Brain and keep members and supporters informed with his progress in the coming seasons.
