NORTH Melbourne skipper Brent Harvey has been cleared to make his return from a dislocated elbow after proving his fitness at the team's final training session before the mid-season break.

Harvey, 31, dislocated the joint after being slung in a tackle during the round five loss to Richmond, but will lead the side out when the Roos take on the Western Bulldogs on June 28 at the MCG.

"It was full training today with the aim for him to test the stability of his elbow through tackling and landing in game-like conditions. Thankfully he reported to me that he was not sore at all after the hit-out," club doctor Con Mitropoulos told kangaroos.com.au on Thursday.

"Everyone is very relieved especially Brent. He's shown a great deal of commitment throughout his rehabilitation and has done everything required to get back onto the field. If there was a game this week, he would be a certainty."

The session was the first overseen by caretaker coach Darren Crocker since the departure of Dean Laidley and was held at the Roos ' pre-season training ground at Bulleen.

Specialist Greg Hoy assessed Harvey after his first full-contact session since the injury and passed him fit for duty.

Harvey's presence has been sorely missed by the Kangaroos who have slumped to five losses in the seven matches he has missed.

In further good news for the club, youngster Liam Anthony is expected to be available for the round 13 match after recovering from foot stress fractures.
