The Fremantle Football Club will arrive in Dunsborough on 4 February to kick off their 2010 Telstra AFL Community Camp.

It will be the second time the club has visited the South-West region following successful camps in Bunbury in 2003, Geraldton in 2004, the Pilbara Region in 2005, the Peel Region in 2006, the Wheatbelt Region in 2007, the Great Southern Region in 2008 and the Kimberley Region in 2009.

Now a tradition in the weeks leading into the NAB Cup, clubs will visit communities throughout Australia to conduct training sessions, visit schools and conduct NAB AFL Auskick clinics.

Fremantle's Community Goals Manager David Crute said the camp provides an opportunity for regional communities to get a taste of AFL football and is also a chance for football fans of all ages to interact with the Fremantle Football Club.

"The players will be very busy visiting 50 schools whilst in the South-West," Crute said.

"As well as the school activities, the superclinic on Thursday will be a great event for everyone to come together and for the children to learn football skills from their AFL heroes.

"From our past experiences, the annual camp also provides Fremantle the chance to have a positive impact on regional communities and is also an ideal opportunity to assist the AFL to build on participation levels at a grassroots level too."

Fremantle’s travelling party to the region will include Club Captain Matthew Pavlich and Senior Coach Mark Harvey, who will be joined by a mix of senior players and some of the new recruits.

Following their morning arrival on Thursday morning, the travelling party will head out to local schools in and around the Vasse region, travelling as far as Manjimup to address students on the rigours of playing AFL.

The best opportunity to meet the players and see them in action will be at the Dunsborough Playing Field from 4.00pm onwards on Thursday 5 February. The players will conduct a NAB Auskick Superclinic for children aged five to 12 years before the playing group conducts a training session for the South-West Academy talent squad.

Local community coaches are also invited to attend and join in a workshop with the Fremantle coaching staff during this time.
