WESTERN Bulldogs legend Chris Grant will join the board of the club.

Grant is set to take up a position as the Bulldogs' football director, a position that has been left vacant since Simon Garlick moved into administration, reports the Herald Sun.

The former Bulldogs skipper, who played 341 games in a distinguished career, recently returned to the club in an official capacity to join the panel charged with finding a replacement for Rodney Eade, eventually deciding on Brendan McCartney.

Grant will replace long serving board member Henry Jolson, QC, who is retiring.

The move will need to be ratified at the club's Annual General Meeting in December but the Herald Sun reports it's "a done deal given Grant's popularity with the Bulldogs faithful".
