PORT Adelaide star Hamish Hartlett will return to running on Saturday after a minor hamstring scare at training.

The club said Hartlett pulled up sore after a training session late last week and was subsequently restricted to light duties this week.

Given the 24-year-old's record with hamstring issues the Power will monitor his health closely in the lead up to the NAB Challenge and then round one.

A history of chronic hamstring and shoulder injuries has kept the No.4 pick at the 2008 NAB AFL Draft to just 90 games in six years.

Nearly half of those (44) have come in the past two seasons under high performance manager Darren Burgess.

Both Chad Wingard (knee surgery) and Jackson Trengove (shoulder surgery) remain weeks away from returning to competitive training after also recently suffering injuries at training.

Wingard underwent a "clean up" of his knee on Tuesday and isn't tipped to train for at least four weeks, while Trengove had surgery on January 15 and won't train competitively for six weeks.
