The Vodafone Brisbane Lions may have lost the 2007 AFL NAB Cup Grand Final, but they were clear winners with the television viewers.

Channel Seven's decision to alter their programming in order to telecast the match live into Brisbane at 6:20pm helped the network win the ratings for both Saturday night and the week.

The Lions match against Carlton on Saturday night won its time slot with a peak viewing audience of 228,000, a cumulative average viewing audience of 181,401 and a viewing share of 29%. There was an increase of 1,005.7% in average viewers in Brisbane compared with the 2006 NAB Cup Grand Final figures.

The audience figures of the Lions first round NAB Cup clash against St Kilda, which was shown at 11:30pm in Brisbane, was down 28% from the previous year.

There were significant audience increases in both the Lions Quarter Final and the Semi Final matches which were up 43.7% and 195.5% respectively from 2006.

Overall, Channel Seven and Network Ten will be pleased with the NAB Cup ratings nationwide with significant increases in viewers for each of the four weeks.
